President Trump has set a meeting with top oil and gas executives to discuss potential assistance in the wake of the sharp oil price plunge, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
The meeting will take place on Friday April 3, 2020 at the White House and will be attended by several industry CEOs, including:
- ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods
- Chevron CEO Mike Wirth
- Oxy CEO Vicki Hollub
- Continental Resources Chairman Harold Hamm
According to the report, the meeting will focus on various aid options including potential tariffs on Saudi Arabia's oil exports (an option which has only been endorsed by Hamm).
Another idea being put forth is a temporary suspension of the Jones Act, which would make it easier to move oil from the Gulf Coast to other U.S. markets.
