Producers Idle GOM Production as Hurricane Sally Approaches

Producers in the Gulf of Mexico have idled offshore platforms as Hurricane Sally bears down on the gulf coast, according to multiple reports.
According to estimates provided by the Bureau of Safety and Environmental and Enforcement, approximately 21% of GOM oil production and 25% of GOM gas production has been idled in preparation.
The shut-in has lifted oil prices as of Tuesday morning, with Brent being above the $40/barrel range.
Sally, currently a Category 2 storm, is slated to make landfall near the Mississippi-Alabama border on late Tuesday (9/15) or early Wednesday (9/16).
