A legend in the oil industry, oilman T. Boone Pickens has passed away, according to multiple reports.
He was 91.
Natural causes due to age were cited as the cause of death, given that Pickens had been in declining health for some time. Since 2017, Pickens had been suffering from complications from a head injury, including a series of strokes.
He officially retired from the oil industry in 2018.
Legacy
Pickens was the pioneer and founder of the company that would become known as Mesa Petroleum, which he founded in 1956. In the years prior, he was a successful wildcatter.
